Betty’s Midwest Kitchen

Well, well, well! A Belated Christmas and a Happy New Year! Phew… It was a really busy month in December! With youth camps up in Camerons, to the Christmas Dinner at Extra Supper tanker, to going back to Taiping to be with MOM.

I will feature Betty’s Midwest Kitchen this time round. I was craving for a christmasy dinner coz I had seafood dinner for Christmas back in Taiping. Hence, Betty’s Ribs and Meatloaf gave some good justification for a perfect christmasy meal.

Meatloaf on your left - RM15. Baby back Ribs on your left. RM28.80. Very tasty.

Next up. Soft Ribs - RM25 ish. Dog Food (bake fries and cheese) - RM8ish and Pulled-pork Burger - RM13 ish.

If you are a pork fan. This is a must-try place to go. Betty’s Midwest Kitchen

De Maw Restaurant, Jln Pudu Ulu

Yesterday evening, we celebrated Sam’s graduation for her Master’s degree. She decided to buy a few of us dinner. Uncle Steven suggested, De Maw Restaurant. It is situated at Jalan Pudu Ulu. If you are unsure where is that, it is actually next to the PGRM building. Next to the restaurant, there is an open space car park, you can park your car there without fighting with anyone who wish to park at the road side.

Let’s get straight to the food, shall we?

When you arrived, you will be served with some braised nuts and soup. Picture shows an Oriental feel setting with only the capability to cater for 10 tables or so. Hence, it is advisable to book before hand to ensure availability of space.

We waited quite a while for the food as the restaurant was full-house. The dishes soon arrived. Starting with the Claypot brinjal, then the Siew Pak Choi fried with Ham Tan(duck's egg). Centre dish is Herbal Kampung Chicken. These 3 dishes tasted good. Kampung Chicken is a bit little since it's kampung but the gravy is nice. Thick mushrooms were sliced in and cooked together in an aluminium foil.

One of the best dish for the night is this one above. It's braised pork trotter with brocolli. Writing about this dish even now is making me hungry. Thick sauce.

The other dish after the Braised Pork Trotter are the big wet-butter prawns. It was a generous portion for the 9 of us. In fact, the portion for all the dishes are quite generous I must say. Saw this big-ass fish ordered by another table which cost about RM130. Shall order that when we return next time.

After the heavy dinner. We ended with their dessert of the day. Pak Kor Longan. Unlike those they sold in pasar malam where you tasted only sugar water, this tasted really authentic and it was refreshing. Only RM3 per bowl.

I managed to capture the price list on the menu for those of you who are interested. For the dishes that we ordered, plus drinks and desserts, the total came up to only RM254.00. We think that it is pretty reasonable. (click image to enlarge if you can't see the pricing properly)

There are 2 sessions should you want to go for dinner. First session is 6.30pm and the other session is 8.30pm. The owner advised us that if we wish to “drink”, then we should booked the 8.30pm session because they will have to ask us to leave if we took the earlier session as their guests will be arriving for the 8.30pm session. Corkage charges is only RM10.  Another dish that you should try is the Mutton. It was out of stock that night when we went.
